Our Beginning Rug Hooking Class is a 3-hour in-person class held onsite at the Mill. The class includes all the supplies that you’ll need to create a beautiful rug (6×6″) designed by award-winning rug-hooker, Deanne Fitzpatrick.
Not only will you leave with a beautiful rug that you can hang on your wall, you will learn all the techniques you need to build a new rug-hooking hobby. We carry all the supplies you need!
Course Description:
Discover the art of expressive rug hooking in this immersive class taught by a certified instructor in the Deanne Fitzpatrick method. Designed for beginners, this course focuses on creating intuitive, painterly designs using wool cloth and yarn. You’ll learn how to hook with confidence, trust your artistic instincts, and bring richness and movement into your work through texture, colour, and simple, flowing lines.
Throughout the class, you will explore:

All the techniques you’ll need to build texture and depth using a variety of wool fabrics and fibres

How to finish and care for your rug hooking projects
You’ll leave with a completed or in-progress piece and the confidence to continue creating from a place of ease, authenticity, and artistic joy.
